A group of students from the Academy were most enthusiastic to take part in an educational youth event at Dewsbury Fire Station. West Yorkshire Fire Service ran a Targeted Intervention Day with their Youth Interventions Team, called 'Sharp Response'. The purpose of the day was to educate and inform students about the consequences of anti-social behaviour and its effect on the emergency services and the community.
We were delighted to host our first-ever Community Eid Lunch at the Academy, where we were greatly pleased to welcome a wide range of guests from the local community to celebrate this special occasion.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from local faith communities to the Academy, who formed an interfaith panel for our students. The event featured a diverse group of panellists, including Rev. Debbie Nash, Rector of Thornhill Parish Church; Rev. Chris Hawke, Methodist Minister; Kausar Tai, a Management & Training Consultant and Director of Aksaa Ltd and David Currie, the Chair of Kirklees Interfaith.

A group of twelve Year 10 girls recently attended a Women in Construction event at Kirklees College, designed to introduce young women to the wide range of careers available within the construction industry.
The Academy hosted a range of fun and creative events to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. This annual event highlights the importance of books and reading. Schools and libraries across the country participated in various activities to mark the occasion.
During the final week of the half term, members of the Student Parliament and our House Captains organised and ran a fantastic fundraising fair, offering a variety of activities for students to enjoy. From lucky dips and a tombola to bake sales and fizzy drinks, there was something for everyone, and it was wonderful to see so many students getting involved.

We were delighted to host over 60 residents from across the local area at a special gathering for our second annual Community Christmas Lunch.
A group of Year 8 students were given the opportunity to participate in the innovative Junior Detective programme developed by West Yorkshire Police. The week-long programme, led by staff from West Yorkshire Police, in conjunction with the University of Bradford, the NHS and Bradford Crown Court, is designed to raise awareness of the wide-reaching ramifications of knife crime and to equip participants with the skills to become knife crime ambassadors.
