Academy Students Celebrate Outstanding GCSE Success

We are extremely impressed by the tremendous success of our students at Thornhill Community Academy in the summer 2026 GCSE examinations.

The recent examination results have showcased remarkable achievements among the year group, with strong improvements noted across various subjects. Notably, the number of students achieving a strong pass in Maths has increased significantly, while overall attainment levels have also risen dramatically. English results reflect this trend, with a notable rise in both strong and standard passes. Additionally, increases in combined Science and triple Science scores highlight the dedication of both students and teachers.

Among these impressive outcomes, two students achieved a remarkable grade 9 in every subject, and the number of students receiving grades of 7 and above in core subjects has increased significantly.

Headteacher, Mr Burton, told us: "This collective success is a testament to the hard work and positive attitude of the students, exemplified by the mantra 'Work hard, be nice - it works every time.'"

Mr Burton went on to say: "I am so proud of students' outcomes this year, and their dedication and application has been a genuine privilege to witness.  They have worked hard, been nice, and today's outcomes absolutely prove that when this happens, excellent results follow.  To all students: be rightly proud of your excellent achievements; to all families: thank you for your support in working with your children to give them the platform to achieve; to all staff and governors: a huge thank you and congratulations on your efforts to ensure that every Year 11 student leaves this Academy with the skills, qualifications and values to have successful and happy lives."

Overall, this year group's achievements have made everyone incredibly proud. We wish all of our outgoing students every success in their future studies as they take up places in further education in September.
