Year 10 Girls Explore Careers in Construction at Kirklees College Event

A group of twelve Year 10 girls recently attended a Women in Construction event at Kirklees College, designed to introduce young women to the wide range of careers available within the construction industry.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of hands-on activities and interactive workshops led by industry professionals and college staff. These sessions gave the girls the opportunity to explore different construction trades and roles, learn about training pathways, and gain a better understanding of the skills required in the sector.

The event aimed to challenge stereotypes and encourage more young women to consider construction as a future career. By engaging directly with practical tasks and speaking with experienced professionals, the students were able to see first-hand the opportunities available to them within this growing industry.

Overall, the visit was an inspiring and informative experience that helped broaden the students’ awareness of construction careers and the routes they can take after school.
