Year 11 Students Excel in Mock Interviews, Gaining Valuable Skills for Future Success

Students in Year 11 were put through their paces when they took part in mock interviews through the Academy's extensive careers programme. The Academy provides students with the opportunity to participate in mock interviews to equip them with the necessary skills for their college applications.

Several professionals, from a wide range of backgrounds, generously volunteered their time to conduct the interviews.

Students were expected to present themselves to a very high standard. They had the option to dress professionally instead of wearing their school uniform and were required to provide their interviewer with a copy of their personal statement. Students were asked an array of questions, and following the interview, received feedback from their interviewer. The interviews allowed students to experience a formal work-related interview, build their confidence, and develop their communication skills.

The event was organised at the Academy by our Personal Development Leader, Miss Walker, who told us: "Once again, our Mock Interview event has been a huge success."

"All Year 11 students should be extremely proud of themselves, we've had some brilliant feedback from both our students and external visitors too, which is amazing to hear. I want to thank all our external visitors for giving up their time to attend the event, it truly is appreciated," she added.

Later this year, Year 11 students will have to undergo an interview as part of the application process when applying for a place at college, sixth form or for an apprenticeship. Mock interviews allow students to hone their communication skills and enable them to appreciate what employers look for in potential candidates.

Thank you to all the interviewers who gave up their time to support our students.
