Four Dedicated Staff Members Bid Farewell to Thornhill Academy as They Embrace Retirement Adventures
Four members of staff, each of whom have worked at the Academy for around a quarter of a century or longer, are among those retiring from the Academy at the end of this academic year.
Mrs Walker, Languages Teacher; Mrs Chadwick, Assistant SENCO and Teacher of Languages; Mrs Dinsdale, Administration & Support; Mrs Macdonald, D&T Technician & Cover Supervisor are among those taking retirement.
Representing the Academy, Headteacher, Mr Burton told us: “Working in schools and dedicating a career to helping young people develop and meet their potential takes a special kind of person. I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to work with Carol, Julie, Jackie and Tracey who’ve dedicated so many years to helping children at the Academy.”
Expressing his gratitude, Mr Burton went on to say: “Their commitment, loyalty and commitment to our values have been outstanding throughout their careers, and I want to thank them on behalf of our staff, families and, most importantly, the thousands of TCA students their work has helped.”
Once retired, our staff share a common goal: they all wish to travel and spend time on holidays abroad. This includes plans to visit Spain and buy a camper van, with the intention of touring Scotland before exploring Europe. One staff member is eager to visit India, while another looks forward to discovering various destinations within the United Kingdom.
One of our retirees has secured a part-time job at a local leisure centre where she will be working as a receptionist. Free gym membership and use of the swimming pool will be a fabulous perk of the job! Our retirees are also eager to pursue hobbies and spend time with family.
However, they are not planning to completely leave Thornhill just yet. They have all expressed their intention to return to the Academy to help with examination invigilation and to provide support for students. Therefore, you can expect to see their familiar faces at the Academy in the future.
We wish all of you our very best wishes for the future and hope that you have a long and happy retirement.
