Rugby Mental Health

As part of raising awareness of issues around mental health, students from the Academy were able to join sessions that were run by Craig Lingard, Head Coach of Batley Bulldogs and their all-time record try scorer. The sessions are supported by Movember, the Rugby charity which raises money to support Men's health, both physical and mental.

There were two sessions, one to year 9 and one to year 10. The sessions aimed to remove the stigma surrounding mental health, looking at how to recognise mental health issues in friends/team mates and how to support a friend who is struggling with mental health. The session also highlighted different moments in a person’s life when their mental health may be impacted and how to deal with these emotions.
