Celebrating the Achievements of our Staff Marathon Runners

We are really pleased to report on the success of three of our members of staff who have recently taken part in national marathon events held in London and Manchester.

Running in the London Marathon was History teacher, Mr Caddick.  He successful completed the course in 3:17:12 which is an excellent result.  The London Marathon is the largest event in the United Kingdom and this year saw over 53,000 people take part.  Beginning in Greenwich and running through the capital, participants encompassed many of the city’s finest landmarks.  The event attracts a wide range of people including Olympic athletes in addition to regular people who enjoy trying to complete the amazing physical feat.  There are also quite a few well-known faces, from politicians to popstars, who take up the challenge.

The previous week saw two of our staff members team up to run the Manchester Marathon. Mr Hall, teacher of Humanities and Mr Furzer, who teaches ICT, both entered the iconic event in Manchester, which is the United Kingdom’s second largest marathon.  This year’s event saw in excess of 32,000 people participate in the 26.2 mile challenge across the city.

Both Mr Hall and Mr Furzer finished the event with fantastic times, 4:44:54 and 3:47 respectively.

Well done all three of you and thank you for sharing your news story with staff, students, families and friends of the Academy.
