Empowering Students for a Safer Summer: Vital Safety Lessons and Resources Shared Ahead of School Holidays

In preparation for the school holidays, students have been learning about staying safe over summer. They watched an assembly delivered by Miss Holmes, Designated Safeguarding Lead, which covered water safety, online safety, physical and mental health, and financial hardship, amongst other things. On Tuesday, students were able to speak with Preeti from The Base who gave them information on drugs, substances and alcohol. Lots of students visited the Safer Summer stand over lunchtime and took away leaflets and resources.

Although the Academy is closed over the summer break, parents, carers and students can access support via our website here. There are links to services that can help with domestic abuse, online safety, substance misuse, mental health and much more. The school holidays can be a difficult time for parents and carers financially. There are free or partially funded activities for children throughout Kirklees which can be booked here. For support with food parcels and cost of living please see this page on the Kirklees website. Uniform Exchange is a fantastic Kirklees charity that can supply uniform and other clothing free of charge. Please visit their website here. They will also happily accept donations of old uniform that you no longer need.

We wish all of our students and families and happy, healthy and safe summer.
