Students attend Arts event at the WOW Barn Festival

A group of students from the Academy were delighted to join with students from other schools when they attended an Arts event at the WOW Barn Festival, Leeds.

Students took part in a series of creative workshops, ranging from clay construction techniques, textiles printing and creating mini sculptures based upon cells in the human body.  Our students enjoyed the day, and enjoyed spending the time together with a simple aim – enjoying creativity and self-expression!

The temporary barn was created by 300 women and non-binary people in just 24 hours, supported by the WOW (Women of the World) Foundation and Leeds 2023 City of Culture.  Following its build, the barn remained for two weeks providing a venue at Cinder Moor, Leeds, for talks, comedy nights, workshops, food, music and more, as part of the Leeds 2023 City of Culture. The events were held to celebrate the achievements of women, girls and non-binary people from across West Yorkshire and to encourage people to join the Women of the World (WOW) movement for change.
