A group of Year 8 students visited the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool to consolidate their learning in history.
Year 9 students were able to discover the wide range of career opportunities that exist within the television industry when they were given a presentation by Grace Reynolds (Executive Producer) and Martha Pothen (Development Researcher) from the television production company Twofour.
Whilst many people are now able to work remotely using technology as a platform to access their work environment the same technique enabled some of our Year 10 students to engage in virtual work experience.
The end of the May half term saw the final day that our Year 11 students would be in school as a full year group and a special leavers’ assembly was held to mark their departure.
We are really pleased to hear that two of our Year 11 students have been selected to play Rugby for the England Community Lions U16s Squad.
Many thanks to Year 10 student Shahzaib Sayeed for acting as a young sports leader for the area Primary School Kwik Cricket qualifier games.
Our congratulations go to twelve of our Year 9 students who have successfully taken part in The Scholars Programme.
Back in 2021, the UK Government launched a competition to uncover visions of the future from the brightest student minds in the UK.
A group of up-and-coming female technologists had the opportunity to take part in the ‘Fujitsu: Girls in Technology’ live webinar event at the Academy.
We are delighted that the Academy has achieved the School Mental Health Award which is delivered by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools. We have been awarded a Gold standard for our outstanding mental health and wellbeing provision.
Year 9 students of the Academy were given the opportunity to explore future career possibilities offered by apprenticeships when they took part in a workshop led by staff from Kirklees Council.
