A group of Year 8 students were given the opportunity to participate in the innovative Junior Detective programme developed by West Yorkshire Police. The week-long programme, led by staff from West Yorkshire Police, in conjunction with the University of Bradford, the NHS and Bradford Crown Court, is designed to raise awareness of the wide-reaching ramifications of knife crime and to equip participants with the skills to become knife crime ambassadors.

Members of the Academy's Drama Club enjoyed an exciting visit to the Bradford Alhambra Theatre to watch Matilda the Musical. The performance was a fantastic opportunity for them to see the show brought to life on a professional stage, leaving them truly inspired.
We are delighted to contribute a decorated tree to the annual Christmas Tree exhibition taking place at Dewsbury Minster. Trees are donated by various community groups and organisations from the local area.
We are delighted that our annual Careers Fair, which recently took place at the Academy, was a resounding success. Representatives from various training providers and local colleges attended the event to provide our students with valuable information about future career opportunities and study options.
Students in Year 11 were put through their paces when they took part in mock interviews through the Academy's extensive careers programme. The Academy provides students with the opportunity to participate in mock interviews to equip them with the necessary skills for their college applications.
This year, as we host our annual training event, we proudly celebrate a significant milestone for the Academy: our fifth year of participating in Restart a Heart Day, a national initiative aimed at equipping young people with essential CPR skills. Organised in collaboration with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), this annual event continues to grow in impact and importance, enhancing the safety and well-being of our community.

The start of a new school year presents students with numerous new challenges and changes to their learning. These are more apparent to students moving into Year 10, as this is the time when they begin their GCSE studies and preparations for moving on to college.
We look forward to welcoming prospective students and their parents to the Academy.
We are extremely impressed by the tremendous success of our students at Thornhill Community Academy in the summer GCSE examinations. Despite challenges at the start of their secondary education, where students faced lockdowns and periods of remote learning, they have performed superbly.
