Students from the Academy’s Resourced Provision brought some festive cheer to their visitors when they organised and ran a Christmas Market. The market raised over £300 which will go towards the development of the Resourced Provision.
We recently hosted our annual Careers Fair at the Academy, which proved hugely successful when training providers and representatives from local colleges were visited by hundreds of Academy students and their parents.
We are delighted to contribute a decorated tree to the annual Christmas Tree exhibition taking place at Dewsbury Minister. Trees are donated by various community groups and organisations from the local area.
Over sixty students from Year 8 had the opportunity to learn about life at university in a special visit to Selwyn College, one of the colleges of the University of Cambridge.
Academy students were put to the challenge of solving a wide range of Mathematical puzzles in a workshop day led by Liz Mitchell from Bletchley Park.
The final day of the first half term was marked by a special rewards event at the Academy where students were rewarded for good attendance and behaviour.
Academy students were given the opportunity to learn the techniques of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, more commonly known as CPR, in a special training event led by staff and volunteers from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Academy students were delighted to welcome Joe Stanley from Selwyn College of Cambridge University to their assemblies.
We join the rest of the nation in mourning the loss of a much loved and respected monarch, HM Queen Elizabeth II. She touched the lives of so many people of all generations around the world. Our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family.

A group of Year 8 students visited the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool to consolidate their learning in history.
Year 9 students were able to discover the wide range of career opportunities that exist within the television industry when they were given a presentation by Grace Reynolds (Executive Producer) and Martha Pothen (Development Researcher) from the television production company Twofour.
