Peace Garden Memorial Dedicated to Mrs Morgan

As we mark the first anniversary of the loss of Mrs Sandra Morgan a permanent memorial has been dedicated to her memory in the Academy’s Peace Garden.

Mrs Morgan was a longstanding colleague at the Academy and sadly passed away just over a year ago.  She is fondly remembered as a warm and caring person by her friends and work colleagues and was greatly appreciated by the students that she cared for and supported at the Academy.

A rose tree has been planted in the Peace Garden alongside a memorial plaque commemorating her life and service at Thornhill.

In marking the anniversary members of staff and students gathered with Mr Terry Morgan, husband of the late Sandra, who laid a bouquet of flowers at the memorial. Mr Morgan then thanked everyone for their support over the past year.

Headteacher, Mr Burton, recalled the caring and supportive qualities of Sandra and told us: ‘We will never forget her kindness, warmth, laughter and joy as our thoughts go out to her family and friends.’

The Peace Garden provides a communal space at the Academy which staff and students use as a place of quiet and reflection.
